The group Banzo de Senzala Atenas was created from Mestre Ediandro Almeida, founder and head of Banzo de Senzala (Barcelona), and his student Formado Manel Ariza. Mestre Ediandro gratuated as a Master from the Association of Capoeira Senzala de Santos, headed by Master Sombra. The Academy of Capoeira in Athens, officially started its activities in Greece in September 2001.

The Group as an official extension of Banzo de Senzala (Barcelona), is devoted to the growth of capoeira in Athens, preserving all the origins and traditions of this art form.

The Association Banzo de Senzala is part of the Association of Capoeira Senzala de Santos, headed by the greatly respected Master Sombra.
