The agogo is a double bell which is traditionally used in many styles of percussions (African, afro-Cubans and afro-Brazilian, etc),
and indeed the agogo is used in many African-Brazilian religious rites.
This instrument is of African origin and its name means bell.
Made mainly of iron and steel, they are used in samba and its offshoots.
The sound is made by striking a stick or a piece of iron against the instruments two bells.
